The world of TREADBOUND
Civilization crosses the sky on continent-sized Wanderers—ancient living beings whose backs carry countries and whose Pulse keeps the air breathable.
Begin with the impossible truth
A Wanderer is not scenery. It heals, changes, carries ecologies, and moves through relationships with other Wanderers. Every road, settlement, and boundary begins with the fact that the country itself is a living body.
The low world is poisoned and hostile. People live far above it, on soil gathered across the backs of living beings vast enough to carry countries.
A Wanderer’s Pulse makes life on its back possible. That resonance is particular—not a generic supply of magic, and not interchangeable with another Wanderer’s rhythm.
Settlements, climates, routes, and neighboring Wanderers belong to a world in motion. Travel is a relationship with living terrain, not a line across a fixed map.

The Pulse
The Pulse is the resonance of a Wanderer. Near the surface it is weak enough to be dependable; where it concentrates, it becomes stranger and less stable. When Wanderers converge, tools, bodies, and practices must recalibrate to another living rhythm.

Peoples, not packages
Lineage matters, but it does not finish a person. Heritage, origin, culture, work, relationships, values, possessions, and unfinished questions all leave evidence. Character discovery begins with someone worth following and makes that history playable.

Beneath the road
The Depths are not a permanent dungeon plan. Routes close, marks become evidence, and living systems answer excavation. The farther a company descends, the less responsible certainty becomes.
Descend into the Bestiary →The tone of the Tread
Failure costs something. People die of ordinary things. And still, moss-forests light themselves from below, airships cross impossible skies, and strange life makes room for curiosity. The wonder is what makes the danger worth facing.
